When the world is formed into separate objects our boundaries inhibit further communion and interconnection, and we become inaccessible and isolated. This is the first manifestation of suffering and is rarely noted as a problem since separation, in our conventional worldview, is a given fact. But as our perception begins to be spiritually altered we notice that we are both separated from the world and at the same time sense a deeper level of interconnection that is not being lived. Somehow this intrinsic connectedness is rarely acknowledged within consensus reality but is unmistakable as our thoughts quiet down. We sense a union that belies the profusion of discrete objects that we see.
